Sonam Kapoor goes Blue for Cannes Red Carpet

Flaunting her cobalt blue floor-sweeping gown, created by designers Ralph & Russo, Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor took the centre stage at the 68th Cannes International Film Festival.

The 29-year-old, who made her fifth Cannes appearance on Saturday representing L’Oréal Paris, sent the shutterbugs in a frenzy as she walked the red carpet in the striking blue gown paired with a matte orange lip colour. Her hair in a gorgeous shade of praline brown were styled in soft loose curls that cascaded over her shoulder.

The “Khoobsurat” actress has mostly impressed fashion critics worldwide with her sartorial choices every year.

Prior to her, “Bang Bang!” star Katrina Kaif made her Cannes debut in this year’s edition on May 14. Aishwarya Rai will walk the red carpet on Sunday and May 20.

Sonam Kapoor, a Cannes regular, will be representing the brand L’Oreal at the fiesta this year. The actress who has been lauded for her fashion sense, has left us spellbound yet again. The actress opted for Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla’s ruffle sari for the press interviews, and carried it off with impeccable style.

It was red all the way when, for her second appearance on the Cannes International Film Festival red carpet, Indian actress Katrina Kaif chose a ravishing red Elie Saab gown matched with red lips.

Highlighting her eyes in tones of taupe while lining them with a black liner, Katrina gave finishing touches to her makeup with perfectly contoured cheeks and sleek middle parted hair, said a statement from L’Oréal Paris, which she is representing at the international gala.

Actress Sonam Kapoor, who will be gracing the red carpet soon as L’Oreal Paris brand ambassador too, has applauded Katrina’s style statements at Cannes.

“Katrina knocked it out of the park and looked absolutely gorgeous. I hope we get a chance to walk together next year,” she said.

Katrina, who was making her debut at the Cannes gala this year, even flashed her million dollar smile for fans and waved out to them before heading to the red carpet on Thursday.

Other international ambassadors of the beauty brand who walked the red carpet were Naomi Watts, Ines De La Fressange, Julianne Moore, Fan Bing Bing and Liya Kebede. They looked chic in bold looks and flawless makeup.

Vishaka Singh signs next hindi film

Looks like Vishakha enjoys working on comedy films. After playing the lead in Kanna Laddoo Thinna Aasaiya, a full-length comedy in Kollywood, the actress has signed another humour-based film in Bollywood. She will be seen in Hindi Picture, scripted by Vikram Bhatt.

The actress confirms, “I’m happy to be working with Vikram again after Ankur Arora Murder Case. We should go on floors by August.” We hear that Vikram is likely to direct this film if his project with Bipasha Basu gets delayed.

While Vishakha will start work on the Telugu remake of Kalakalappu from September, we hear she is all set to sign another rom-com in Kollywood too.

Bipasha Basu says no to College girl roles

Actress Bipasha Basu, who has turned 35, says she’s only keen to do roles that suit her and that she’s not game to essaying a college girl on the big screen.

Bipasha, who celebrated her birthday Wednesday, will next be seen in a double role in horror movie “Alone”. She was last seen in “Creature 3D”.

Asked why she’s picking horror films, the bold and beautiful actress said: “If at all anybody offers me a role of a college girl, I won’t do it. It is very frivolous! You have to do roles that suit you.”

She feels that whenever she has essayed “strong roles”, people have liked it.

“People want to see me in strong roles…whether it’s in an artistic film or comedy. They want a lot of strength (in the character). And I only care about my audience, about entertaining the people who love me,” she added.

Bipasha is currently busy promoting “Alone”, directed by Bhushan Patel. It marks TV actor Karan Singh Grover’s debut in Bollywood.

The actress is happy with the response that the trailer has received, and she is hopeful the movie will be lapped up once it releases Jan 16.

“I feel good when my work is appreciated. People are liking my chemistry with Karan. This film is not just a horror story, it a love story.”

Shruti Hassan’s rise to stardom: Asin pays the price!

Apparently, Director Anees Bazmee had roped in Asin for the leading lady of his 2007-hit Welcome sequel ‘Welcome Back‘ which stars John Abraham. However, the makers have decide to cast Shruti Hassan in place of Asin after watching her performance as a Karachi-based prostitute in recently released Bollywood thriller ‘D-Day‘. Anees Bazmee confirmed the reports of Shruti Hassans inclusion saying she fits the bill perfectly.

It is learnt that Asin is very much upset with the development as ‘Welcome Back’ is the only Bollywood film she has signed after her last release ‘Khiladi 786’ (December 6th, 2012). The Southern beauty even pledged never to team up with the director what-so-ever.

So producer of “Laxmi Raave Maa Intiki” is suffering due to conditions, so he has to space out his production for over 5 months (total 40 days with 7 days a week allotment) instead of wrapping up the movie in 40 days flat. What a pity!
